Wildlife Walk at Cofton Terms & Conditions
By participating in the Wildlife Walk at Cofton, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. The Activity
The Wildlife Walk is a free, adult-focused outdoor activity designed to encourage participants to explore the natural surroundings of Cofton and discover local wildlife, plants, birds and habitats.
The walk may involve grass, countryside paths, uneven ground, slopes and other natural outdoor terrain.
2. Age Requirement
The Wildlife Walk is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Proof of age may be requested where appropriate.
3. Participation
Participation is free and subject to available spaces.
Participants should arrive at the designated meeting point at the time communicated for the walk.
The activity leader reserves the right to refuse participation where they reasonably believe that an individual is unable to participate safely.
4. Safety
Participants must follow all reasonable safety instructions provided by the activity leader.
The walk may involve:
Uneven or muddy ground
Slopes and steps
Grass, countryside and natural paths
Low branches and natural obstacles
Changing weather conditions
Encounters with insects, plants and wildlife
Participants are responsible for taking reasonable care of their own safety and should remain with the group unless instructed otherwise.
5. Respect for Wildlife
The purpose of the walk is to observe and learn about wildlife without disturbing it.
Participants must not intentionally:
Touch or handle wildlife
Chase or frighten animals or birds
Feed wildlife
Capture or remove wildlife
Damage nests, habitats or plants
Harm or deliberately disturb any living creature
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, as animals are wild and may not always be visible.
6. Clothing & Footwear
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for an outdoor walk.
Walking shoes or boots with good grip are recommended.
Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for conditions including mud, rain, wind, sunshine and changing temperatures.
7. Weather Conditions
The Wildlife Walk may take place in a range of weather conditions.
For safety reasons, the activity leader may alter the route, shorten the walk or cancel the activity if weather conditions make it unsafe or impractical.
Where possible, participants will be informed of significant changes.
8. Allergies & Medical Conditions
Participants should consider their own health and fitness before taking part.
Participants should inform the activity leader of any relevant medical conditions, mobility requirements, allergies or other circumstances that may affect their ability to participate safely.
Please be aware that outdoor environments may contain pollen, plants, insects and other natural allergens.
9. Personal Belongings
Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings.
We recommend bringing only essential items and keeping valuables secure.
We cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings.
10. Behaviour
Participants are expected to behave respectfully towards the activity leader, other participants, wildlife and the local environment.
Aggressive, abusive, threatening, disruptive or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.
We reserve the right to ask anyone whose behaviour presents a risk to themselves, others, wildlife or the environment to leave the activity.
11. Alcohol & Intoxication
Participants must not take part while excessively under the influence of alcohol or any other substance that may impair their judgement, coordination or ability to participate safely.
The activity leader may refuse participation or ask a participant to leave if they believe the person is unable to participate safely due to intoxication.
12. Photography & Filming
Photography or filming may take place during the Wildlife Walk for promotional purposes.
Option A – Consent-based:
We will ask for permission before using identifiable photographs or videos of participants for promotional purposes.
Option B – General photography:
Photography and filming may take place during the activity. Participants who do not wish to appear in promotional photographs or videos should speak to a member of staff before the walk begins.
13. Accessibility
We aim to make the Wildlife Walk as accessible as reasonably possible.
As the activity takes place outdoors, the route may include uneven, muddy or natural terrain.
If you have accessibility requirements or require reasonable adjustments, please contact us before attending so we can discuss the route and available options.
14. Changes to the Walk
For safety, environmental or operational reasons, the activity leader may change the planned route, duration or activities during the walk.
Specific wildlife sightings, locations or encounters cannot be guaranteed.
15. Respect for the Environment
Participants are expected to help us protect the natural environment around Cofton.
Please:
Take rubbish home or use designated bins.
Do not damage plants, trees or habitats.
Do not disturb wildlife.
Keep to instructed paths and areas where required.
Follow any environmental guidance provided by the activity leader.
16. Liability
We will take reasonable care to provide the Wildlife Walk in a safe and appropriate manner.
Participants acknowledge that outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including uneven surfaces, slips, trips, falls, weather conditions, insects, plants and other natural hazards.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
17. Acceptance of Terms
By participating in the free Cofton Wildlife Walk, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
